HOCO TAILGATE 2024.
Before the football game, students participate in the Homecoming parade with homemade floats or signs.
ROYALLY SURPRISED While being introduced as a part of the Homecoming court, seniors Gaberiel Deleon and Heather Gordon smile and wave at the crowd on Sept. 9. Winning king and queen came as a surprise to Gordon and Deleon since they didn’t perform well in the games at the Homecoming assembly. “The games at the assembly were hard and we literally lost all of them, so winning was shocking because we already lost in a way,” Gordon said.
MARCHING WITH PRIDE While marching in the homecoming parade Jacob Palmer (10) celebrates the coming home of the Prospectors with his marching on Aug. 9. “Marching with my trumpet isn't the easiest thing to do but it's definitely not the hardest,” Palmer said. “I like how many people I get to meet in marching band and how I get to connect with other bands.”
FLOAT CELEBRATION While celebrating in the homecoming parade, Savannah Smith (10) and Isabella Blackstock (9) point at the juniors float that was decorated in red on Sept. 8. Smith found their float to be well organized and detailed, and regretted that she and her fellow sophomores had rushed to do theirs five minutes before they had to be there. “I thought (the junior’s float) was really well decorated,” Smith said. “I just wish we had more time to decorate so we could have made ours look that good, too.”
RED, WHITE, & BLUE While looking at her friend's phone and holding a black ball, Shyanne Bullard (10) and Hayden Persinger (10) walk in the school's homecoming parade on Sept. 8. Bullard had painted on her leg in preparation for the game. “The paint on my leg didn’t really represent anything,” Bullard said,”I just saw a bunch of people on TikTok and it was always for the theme of the football game.”
