WEB & SOCIAL MEDIA

Social media is becoming a great tool used by many companies to stay in touch with consumers on a daily basis. It would be uncommon in today world to have a brand, company, and/or publication and not have a least one social media account. As a publication we decided to keep the theme and look of our yearbook secret for many months to build anticipation for our students, but platforms through social media help us still stay in touch with our audience as well as give them sneak peaks throughout the year.

Connecting

COMMUNITY

The Prospectors’s daily Instagram posts have been a source of connection for our community. With captions and a social media audits system that ensured sources weren’t repeated, our staff was able to post about a significant portion of our school community helping raise awareness for the content students might find in their years later in the year.

WITH THE

GATHERING

Information

Platforms like Instagram can have many uses and one use me and my staff found particular useful was polls in which we can gather information from. Throughout the year The Prospector would post a series of Instagram polls on our stories in which students could quickly answer and then we could use that data to find sources or discover new stories.

Highlighting

OUR

WORK

To connect with our audiences as well as attempt to increase pre-orders of our yearbook we posted short videos of each staff member as they discussed either their favorite story or design.

MEET

The

STAFF

At the beginning of the year we always post “Meet the Staff” content to encourage students to get to know the journalists around the school but to also let people in my community know who they can turn to if they have a story.
