Photojournalism.

One does not think of a yearbook without thinking of photography as it helps it captures the essence of a school year, preserving memories and documenting events, achievements, and the overall atmosphere of the academic year. Through powerful images, photojournalism adds depth and emotion to our publication, helping to tell the story of our school, community, and providing a visual record for students and alumni to cherish for years to come.

My passion for storytelling through photography has been with me from a young age. At 13 years old I was an inexperienced photographer when I volunteered to take photographs of my schools trip to Catalina Island. I left for California with only a basic 5 minute run down of how a camera works from my advisor, and from that day I immersed myself in the task, capturing moments with sheer instinct.

To my astonishment, one of my very first photographs won an Excellent in Environmental Photography from the Journalism Education Association. This unexpected success affirmed my passion for storytelling through imagery and ignited a journey of exploration and growth in the field of photojournalism.

Due to the unfortunate event that is time and the internet, many of my photographs - including my ones from Catalina Island from 7th and 8th grade, have been sadly lost, but down below is a collection of my photographs I’ve taken throughout high school.
